European eIDAS2 regulation
El eIDAS 2 is the second version of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the European internal market. This regulation aims to facilitate secure electronic transactions throughout the European Union.
Key points of eIDAS 2
Enhancement of digital security: eIDAS 2 sets higher security standards for electronic transactions, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of transmitted data.
Facilitation of electronic identification: It introduces measures to improve and simplify electronic identification processes, making it easier to participate in secure online and cross-border transactions.
Mutual recognition of electronic identifications: It allows for the mutual recognition of electronic identifications among EU Member States, facilitating interoperability and promoting a single digital market.
Strengthening of trust services: It establishes stricter standards for trust service providers, such as certification authorities, ensuring the reliability and security of these services.
Entry into force:
On November 8, 2023, during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the negotiation of the European regulation on qualified trust services and the European Digital Identity was successfully concluded. The final text is likely to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union in March 2024, so its entry into force is imminent, meaning that companies will have to comply with its provisions from that date. It is essential for companies to prepare in advance to ensure compliance with these new regulations.
How will this affect your company?
eIDAS 2 will have a significant impact on the digital operations of your company, especially if you are involved in cross-border electronic transactions. It is crucial to assess how these new regulations will affect your internal processes and take necessary measures to comply with the requirements of eIDAS 2.
In summary, eIDAS 2 represents a significant step towards creating a single and secure digital market in the European Union. As a technology company, it is essential to understand and comply with these new regulations to ensure the security and reliability of our electronic transactions. Therefore, we invite you to participate in our in-person event taking place on March 14 in Madrid: eIDAS2: use cases, opportunities, and benefits for the business world.
